WENZEL Messtechnik measures on behalf of its customers, tactile, optical and by computed tomography. Enquiries arrive by e-mail, orders often as a spreadsheet, and after that come the individual data, the shop paper, the measuring room, the report, the post-calculation and the invoice. That is exactly the path we rebuilt in Odoo after our conversation, instead of sending you a concept. What you see on this page is already running.
You spent almost an hour showing us your working day, from the enquiry to the invoice. We invented nothing, we mapped that process. One sentence of yours was our benchmark.

Every enquiry becomes one record with its attachment and a status. The red line turns into a view that tells you what is open and since when.
Usually a short mail, with regular customers often no quotation at all, sometimes only afterwards.
Short quotation as a one-pager straight out of the order, with a guide price and hourly rate. If you do not need a quotation, you simply skip the step.
The prepared file already holds the line items. Entering them one by one would be too slow.
Read in the file and you are done: line items and products are created in one go. Empty product fields get their number automatically. Pipe separator, data starting in row 5, German date and decimal formats are recognised.
Your bible: drawing number and index, project name, internal and external remark, fixturing, alignment, programming, documentation code.
All fields sit on the line item, including goods receipt, documents complete and the eight documentation codes up to DAkkS and ISO/IEC 17025. The shop paper prints from them, together with the crate labels showing crate number 1/3, 2/3, 3/3.

The same procedure, only without a second system: clock in, clock out, start and finish an order and a line item. The hours land on the right order immediately.

The prepared file is selected, the preview shows every row with quantity, drawing number and price, and after that the order stands with all its line items. Empty product fields automatically receive a new QS number, codes and remarks move to the right line item.
This is the step where your order entry is fast today. It stays that way.
One board with all orders in the house, sorted by open, in progress and finished, coloured by technology. One click opens the line item with its individual data, shop paper and labels.
The question of what is here and how far along it is gets answered by the screen, not by a walk through the measuring room.
Enter the personnel number, then four large buttons: clock in, clock out, start order, finish order. Order and line item number are printed on the shop paper, exactly as they are today.
Your colleagues need no licence of their own and no training. The routine at the terminal stays the one they already know.
Revenue per month, customer ranking, open receivables, uninvoiced orders, incoming invoices and the open order book, each as its own view. From one customer's revenue you can click down to the single invoice and the single order.
The five PDFs you produce every week today, management will open by itself from now on.
So you do not have to guess what sits behind the videos: the system is filled with a complete sample year. The values are invented, the processes are yours. You can click on every figure in the system and get all the way down to the single line item.

The 0,01 € placeholder is deliberate. You described that a price is sometimes only fixed after the measurement. That line item stays visible, gets a reason and is not lost in the evaluation, instead of quietly disappearing as a zero.
The decision for Odoo was taken in the group, and in America it is already running. That is why we did not build Blaubeuren as a one-off, but as a pattern that can be repeated.
Four things are deliberately not part of what you see above. We would rather name them now than write them into an invoice later.
This is an architecture decision, not a programming question. Odoo can hold the people and their permissions. Whether the doors go to a dedicated access system or are connected through a control box is something we decide only once we have seen your components on site. Before that we promise nothing on it.
Taking customers, products and open orders across from the legacy system is a work package of its own, and its size depends on the quality of the export. We estimate it separately, as soon as we have seen a real export, and not on suspicion.
Incoming invoices and outgoing invoices are in the system, an export status per document is prepared. Which format is needed in the end depends on what your accounting works with. We clarify that in a short conversation, after which it is a manageable adjustment.
Instead of FTP and mail attachments, your customers could collect their measurement reports themselves, with access to their own orders only. That makes sense, but it is not a must for the start, so it stands as an option and not in the base package.
